A teenager was allegedly raped by seven people, including four minors, in a tea plantation in Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal, a senior police official said on Thursday.

The seven accused named in the complaint filed by the girl’s family were arrested in the last three days, the official said. Four of the seven arrested are minors, he said.

Of the three adults accused, two were taken into police custody and the other was remanded in custody. The minors were taken to a youth home.

The teenager went to a deserted place inside the tea garden in Dooars area on the request of one of the accused, allegedly her boyfriend, the official said.

When she reached the crime scene, she was raped by the seven on Sunday afternoon, he said, adding that the accused also videotaped the act. After the accused circulated the alleged video clip on social media earlier this week, the family filed an FIR. Police arrested three accused from Jalpaiguri district and the four others from Alipurduar district, he added.
