Spring Valley promotes Josh Pellegrini to police sergeant – Shaw Local

Another boy from the hometown made it.

At Monday’s Spring Valley City Council meeting, Police Officer Josh Pellegrini was promoted to sergeant and received commendations and new badges from Police Chief Adam Curran.

The promotion, which was made on the recommendation of the city’s police and fire commission, was approved unanimously shortly thereafter.

“I love it,” Pellegrini said of his new position. “I’ve wanted to take on a leadership role in this department for some time and I’m very excited about the opportunity. As Chief Curran said, I was born and raised in this community, I’m very proud of this community. I went to high school here, my wife is a teacher at (John F. Kennedy Grade School) and we’re raising our family here. This is my home.”

According to Curran, Pellegrini has taken on many duties beyond that of a patrol officer without complaint since he began working with him in 2010. Those duties include working in the city’s schools, where he takes a leading role in working with technical aspects, as a Taser instructor, as a youth police officer and as a deputy building inspector.

“But the best quality I see in Josh is his commitment to the community,” Curran said. “He truly cares about his community and wants the best for the community… It’s an honor to promote him to sergeant. I congratulate him.”

Mike DeAngelo of the Police and Fire Commission addressed the council and congratulated him, saying Pellegrini “defines what a Spring Valley police officer is by the way he takes care of the community.”
