Lathrop man killed in altercation Sunday night, police said

A man was killed in San Joaquin County early Sunday morning, officials said. Lathrop police were dispatched to a reported disturbance on Sunol Street, west of Interstate 5, around 1:13 a.m. When they arrived, officers found a man with life-threatening injuries. He was taken to the hospital where he died, Lathrop police said. The man was later identified by the San Joaquin County Medical Examiner’s Office as Jeffrey Edlund Cook, 52, of Lathrop. Lathrop police were called to a reported disturbance on Sunol Street, west of Interstate 5, around 1:13 a.m. When officers arrived, they found a man with life-threatening injuries. He was taken to the hospital, where he died, Lathrop police said.

The man was later identified by the San Joaquin County Coroner’s Office as Jeffrey Edlund Cook, 52, of Lathrop.

A person suspected of killing Cook is in police custody, Lathrop police said.
