Richard Simmons dies at age 76 – NBC4 Washington

Fitness guru Richard Simmons, who made a name for himself with his legendary weight-loss programs in the 1970s and 1980s, has died at the age of 76, two law enforcement sources confirmed to NBC News.

Simmons, whose energetic and flamboyant demeanor made him a legend in the fitness community, was found unconscious in his Hollywood Hills home Saturday morning. Los Angeles police and firefighters arrived at his home shortly after 10 a.m. and pronounced Simmons dead at the scene.

A cause of death was not given.
