Buffalo Police: 2 dead after overnight stabbing and fire

The incidents may be related because the two people who died knew each other, according to a Buffalo police spokesman.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo police responded to a call of a stabbing around 3:30 a.m. Saturday in the 700 block of Ashland Avenue.

A 24-year-old woman has died after being stabbed and slashed, according to a Buffalo police spokesperson.

Then, just before 4 a.m., Buffalo firefighters responded to 62 Dash Street.

A 24-year-old man who lived in the home was found dead in a bedroom on the first floor, firefighters said.

They added that the damage is estimated at $150,000.

According to the spokesman, these incidents could be linked because the two deceased people knew each other.

Erie County medical examiners will conduct autopsies to determine the cause of death. Fire and homicide investigators are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
