Shots were fired near the Durham bus station and an investigation is ongoing

DURHAM, N.C – Durham police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred near the downtown bus station Thursday afternoon.

At approximately 3:44 p.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 500 block of West Pettigrew Street.

Their investigation revealed that there was an argument between a group of males at the bus station.

The argument escalated and the group moved across the street to the train tracks, where there was an exchange of gunfire.

There are currently no reports of injuries from gunfire.

However, bullets hit an unoccupied vehicle parked at the bus stand.

In addition, emergency medical services personnel treated one person for minor injuries sustained during the incident, likely from a fall during the commotion.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing and no further details can be released at this time.
