Four people had to leave their homes, two pets died after house fire

WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — Four people were evacuated from their homes and two pets were lost after a house fire.

According to Wichita Falls Deputy Fire Chief Jared Burchett, firefighters responded to a reported house fire in the 2900 block of Pennsylvania Road shortly after 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.


When firefighters arrived, they saw smoke and fire rising from the back of the house.

According to Burchett, it took about 45 minutes to get the flames under control.

No firefighters were injured, but one person was taken to United Regional for smoke inhalation. Two pets did not survive the fire, but another cat and a dog were rescued.

The cause of the fire is unknown. No other injuries were reported.
