Late real estate mogul Brandon Miller owed more than $100,000 for luxury furniture rental: lawsuit

According to court documents, just months before his shocking death, real estate mogul Brandon Miller faced a lawsuit for more than $100,000 over unpaid bills to rent luxury furniture for a posh Manhattan condo.

Miller, who was managing partner at REEC and was married to popular fashion blogger Candice Miller, died last week in the Hamptons at age 43.

No cause of death was announced.

The couple enjoyed a lavish lifestyle with their two young daughters, which included summers at their $3 million home in Southampton, a $9 million apartment in Soho, and another expensive apartment on the Upper East Side.

In April, Brandon Miller of luxury real estate design firm Interior Marketing Group was sued in Manhattan Supreme Court for $102,730.27, according to the lawsuit obtained by The Post.

The lawsuit alleged that in December 2022, Miller stopped making monthly payments for the company’s furniture rental and styling services for his apartment at 737 Park Avenue.

Miller also refused to return $64,140.36 worth of furniture, including fixtures, lamps, desks, chairs, bed frames, pillows and artwork, court documents show.

After several attempts to get the furniture back and demands for payment, the company filed its lawsuit on April 19.

The case remains listed as pending.

Attorneys for Interior Marketing Group did not respond to requests for comment. Miller’s legal representation was not disclosed in court documents.

Miller was managing partner of Real Estates Equities Corporation, founded in 1978 by his late father, Michael Miller, after a career developing shopping centers.

The Brown University graduate joined his father’s real estate firm in 2004 as head of acquisitions and finance, according to the REEC website.

The company has purchased or developed over 20 million square feet of real estate across the country, including numerous properties in New York City, including 985 Park Ave., 156 Prince St. and 1228 Madison.

The dispute over furniture rental is not the first legal trouble that Miller has had to deal with in recent years.

A 2019 complaint alleged that Brandon Miller’s father, who died in 2016, instructed his assistant to forge his son’s signature on some loan documents related to a condominium project.

According to court documents reported by The Real Deal, the lawsuit was settled.

In 2022, TD Bank sued Brandon Miller, his mother and his sister, alleging they made fraudulent wire transfers to prevent the bank from collecting $2.1 million from his mother.

A third lawsuit, filed last May, alleged that Brandon Miller owed more than $55,000 in mooring fees at a marina in the Hamptons.

He died last Wednesday after reportedly being admitted to a hospital in Southampton a few days earlier.

Southampton Police did not respond to requests for comment.

Candice Miller – who launched her fashion blog Mama + Tata with her sister Jenna Crespi in 2016 – is co-founder of vintage-inspired clothing line Black Iris and top buyer at Southampton shop Tenet.

She has not spoken since her husband’s death.
