Auburn cornerback JD Rhym expected to trade to Houston

Ancient Auburn cornerback JD Rhym should be transferred to Houstonaccording to a report from On3 Pete Nakos.

Rhym did not make an impact during his time at Auburn, officially not recording any statistics.

But he’s a highly touted former recruit, a four-star prospect sought by dozens of blue-chip Power Five programs. Houston will therefore have a player with considerable athletic potential.

On3 had the following scouting report on Rhym out of high school:

“Instinctive defensive back who worked as a safety and cornerback for one of the best high school programs in southern Georgia. Has long arms, which help in coverage and as a tackle. Demonstrates good playing speed, particularly for safety purposes. He closes distances quickly and shows some physicality as an attacker and finisher. Takes blocks brilliantly.

“I played safety as a senior and corner as a junior. Would be considered a hyper-physical corner or an advanced safety blanket, depending on where he ends up at the college level. Does not have verified sports markers.

Before enrolling at Auburn, JD Rhym was ranked as a four-star prospect and No. 162 in the nation in the 2022 recruiting class, according to On3 Industry rankings.

He also checked in as the No. 14 safety in the class and No. 16 overall player in the state of Georgia, hailing from Valdosta (GA) Valdosta.

Houston lands LSU linebacker transfer

Ancient LSU linebacker Christian Brathwaite announced his commitment to Houston from the NCAA transfer portal.

Brathwaite played in five games for the Tigers in 2023. He redshirted his true freshman season in 2023, as the fifth game he played in was the bowl, which no longer counts toward the four games a player can playing and still in a red shirt. He recorded three tackles in his five appearances.

Before enrolling at LSU, Brathwaite played football at Cy Ranch (Texas) High School, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the 400th overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles grades and rankings from the four major recruiting media services.
