Air Quality Alert Ohio

CLEVELAND (WJW) – The National Weather Service reported that an air quality warning has been issued for much of northeast Ohio this Monday.

The warning is in effect from midnight to midnight for Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage and Summit counties.

The National Weather Service recommends that sensitive groups, including children, the elderly and people who already have respiratory problems, avoid being outdoors.

The poor air quality is due to increased concentrations of ground-level ozone and occurs after a milder weekend.

FOX 8 meteorologists expect the heat to increase on Monday, but temperatures are not expected to exceed 26 degrees Celsius.

Here are some ways to reduce air pollution:

• Drive less. Walk, cycle or use public transport instead.
• Do not let the engine idle. Turn the engine off.
• Fill up your tank after sunset
• Wait to mow the lawn
