You have the opportunity to justify yourself

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) says its suspended Assin Central Secretary Sadique Broni Yeboah will be given the opportunity to rehabilitate himself before the party’s disciplinary committee.

Yeboah had previously given the party a three-day ultimatum to lift his suspension, otherwise he would take legal action.

Yeboah and the Assin Central Regional Chairman, Prof. Richard Kofi Asiedu, were suspended for their role in the suspension of the constituency’s parliamentary candidate, Nurein Shiabu Migyimah.

In a letter dated July 3 to the Secretary General, Yeboah’s lawyers, Fifi Kwetey, called on the party to lift the suspension and grant their client a fair hearing, citing procedural irregularities and a breach of natural justice.

The lawyers argued that the suspension was a violation of the party’s statutes and rules of procedure.

But in an interview with Selorm Adonoo on Eyewitness news At Citi FM On Friday, Abraham Amaliba, NDC director of conflict resolution, pointed out that the suspended secretary was coming too early as he would be given a fair hearing by the party’s disciplinary committee.

“They are rushing their time. This suspension is like telling him to step aside while he is referred to the National Disciplinary Committee. So he will have to spend a day in the Disciplinary Committee. It is like an official who has behaved badly and you don’t want him to stay there any longer because otherwise his presence would aggravate the situation even further.”

“So step aside, we will refer your case to the disciplinary committee. There he will be asked to exonerate himself.”

“…It could happen soon. It could be next week when the party meets for its usual weekly meetings. We could just pass it on… Nevertheless, he will have his day before the disciplinary committee to justify himself,” he explained.
