The San Antonio Police Department is hosting a summer camp for high school students in June

SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Police Department is offering high school students the opportunity to learn more about policing during a summer camp.

Students ages 14 to 18 who enroll meet with officers and detectives from various SAPD units, including SWAT, Eagle, SAFFE and Mental Health.

“Investigation units such as murder, robbery, car theft, applicant processing and more! SAPD Summer Camp is for those who are open-minded and ready to have fun,” the SAPD Career Event website states.

Places for the three-day camps are limited; those interested are asked to reserve quickly. They will take place from June 17th to 19th and June 24th to 26th between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.

If you want to join, you will need the following:

  • Participants require photo ID. Photo ID from the school is acceptable.

  • Bring a signed registration form.

  • Bring a signed liability release document.

  • Bring a signed SAPD photo and video release form.

  • Participants must bring a bottle of water and their own lunch on Monday and Wednesday (camps take place between Monday and Wednesday). The San Antonio Police Officers Association will provide a luncheon on Tuesday.
