Enfield man arrested after rage-driving shooting

ENFIELD – Police have arrested a 44-year-old man following a road rage incident in which a shot was fired on Freshwater Boulevard late Wednesday night.

Enfield Police received a call at 11:54 p.m. reporting the incident.

No injuries were reported.

Following a “high risk” vehicle stop on Ganny Terrace, Peter Smario Ill. of 50 Belle Avenue was arrested.

Smario faces several charges including Attempted Assault 1st Degree 53a-49/53a-59, Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm 53-203, Violation of a Restraining Order 53a-223b (2 counts), Possession of a Firearm Without a License 29-35(a)(1), Criminal Possession of a Weapon 53a-217, 15th Degree Criminal Damage to Property 53a-115, 1st Degree Menacing 53a-61aa, and Weapons in a Motor Vehicle 29-38.

Smario is being held on $1,000,000 bail and is scheduled to appear before GA-14 on Friday morning.
