HYDERABAD: Two sales managers of a well-known real estate company were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly drugging, raping and beating their 26-year-old colleague in a car for hours on the night of June 30.

The colleagues left the woman outside a private hostel in Miyapur after the crime, police said. The accused, identified as Sanga Reddy (39) and Janardhan Reddy (25), were remanded in custody on Wednesday.

While a zero-level FIR was initially filed at Uppal police station based on a complaint by the survivor, the case was later transferred to Miyapur police station as the crime fell under its jurisdiction.

The accused have been booked under sections 376 (rape), 323 (intentionally causing hurt), 509 (outraging modesty of a woman) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code, said Miyapur SHO V Durga Rama Linga Prasad. “The survivor has been sent for medical examination,” he added.

Initial investigation revealed that the accused had picked up their colleague near the hostel in Miyapur on Sunday morning and had set off for Yadadri to inspect a construction site. On their way back to Hyderabad, they stopped the car near a building under construction at around 10.30 pm and claimed that the vehicle had broken down.

They first offered her food, but she refused. Then Janardhan offered her a soft drink and a sweet. Soon after, the woman started feeling dizzy, a police official said. She initially thought it was because she had not eaten anything all day. But when Janardhan gave her more sweets, she fell unconscious, police said.

“The two took advantage of this and undressed her, touched her inappropriately, raped her and even beat her,” the police officer said, adding that the woman was tortured until 3 a.m. on Monday.
