Children say Anderson man bribed them with candy and raped them for years

ANDERSON, Indiana – A violent criminal allegedly bribed young children with candy and then forced himself on them for sexual gratification, according to his victims.

Kevin E. Germain Jr., 41, of Anderson was arrested on June 28 on several preliminary charges of child abuse (a Level 1 felony) and sexual abuse of a minor (a Level 4 felony).

According to court documents, Anderson police and Child Protective Services began investigating Germain after two juveniles came forward to allege that Germain had sexually assaulted and raped them for years.

According to the victim’s allegations, Germain bribed one of the victims, aged between 11 and 15, with candy and then forced the victim to perform sexual acts on him.

The other victim said Germain’s sexual abuse went even further. He allegedly raped the child for years, starting when the victim was only seven years old until his arrest.

According to the victims, Germain stressed that they could not tell anyone what he was doing to them because he did not want to go back to prison.

According to court records, Germain was convicted in 2011 of assault with a deadly weapon causing serious injury. He was sentenced to four years in prison.

The documents show that when speaking to police, Germain denied the victims’ allegations against him and claimed he had never sexually touched any of the children.

The Madison County District Attorney’s Office will decide whether and what charges will be formally filed against Germain.

If Germain is charged and convicted of child abuse (a first-degree felony), he could face up to 50 years in prison.
