Man dies after fire in apartment complex in Bright, Indiana

LAWRENCEBURG, Ind. – A man died in a fire at an apartment complex in Bright, Indiana, Friday afternoon, according to Bright Fire Chief Kendall Eberhart.

Eberhart said sometime after 1:30 p.m., a 911 call came in about the fire at an apartment complex in the 2100 block of Basket Lane.

Emergency crews were able to put out the fire enough to begin searching for victims in the home when they found the man, Eberhart said. The man has not yet been identified.

No one else was injured in the fire, Eberhart said.

The fire was limited to two apartments, but there was smoke damage in several units, Eberhart said.

The residents are being accommodated in hotels in the area while the smoke is being ventilated from the buildings. The Red Cross is supporting these accommodations.

The fire is still being investigated, Eberhart said.
