Man dies after swimming accident in Hampton Bays: Police

HAMPTON BAYS, NY (PIX11) — A man died while swimming in Hampton Bays Monday afternoon, according to Southampton Police.

At around 2:52 p.m., the police received an emergency call about a drowning victim.

The swimmer, identified as Peter Dzakonski, 54, of Hampton Bays, was pulled from the water by another beachgoer, police said. He was resuscitated and taken to a hospital for further medical treatment.

According to police, Dzakonski was pronounced dead in hospital.

A second man at the scene suffered from chest pains and difficulty breathing and was also taken to hospital for further treatment, police said.
