Silver warning issued for KC man with dementia and cancer

KANSAS CITY, Missouri (KCTV) — A warning about endangered silver has been issued after a Kansas City man suffering from dementia, cancer and kidney failure left his home over the weekend.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says Kansas City, Missouri police asked them to issue a statewide Endangered Silver Alert after 88-year-old Refugio Troncoso disappeared from a home in the 2600 block of Madison Avenue, near Guadalupe Centers Middle School, around 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, June 22.

According to MSHP, Troncoso was described as a white male, 5’1″ tall and weighing approximately 120 pounds. He has black and white hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a blue shirt and dark blue pants.

Police officers found that Troncoso has a tattoo of the name “JR” on one hand between his index finger and thumb. He has been diagnosed with dementia, cancer and kidney failure, so finding him quickly is critical to his health.

Police said Troncoso may have been driving a silver 1993 Toyota Corolla with Missouri license plate LB7N0D. He reportedly went outside to start the vehicle, and when his daughter checked on him a short time later, both Troncoso and the vehicle were gone. It is unknown where he may be headed.

As of 4:40 p.m. Saturday, MSHP said no photo of Troncoso was available. No further information was released. Anyone who sees Troncoso or knows where he may be should immediately report it to 911 or KCPD at 816-234-5043.
