ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships begin Thursday in Atlanta

ATLANTA, Georgia (theACC.com) – After an eight-week regular season, all 15 Atlantic Coast Conference outdoor track and field programs will travel to the George C. Griffin Athletic Complex in Atlanta, Georgia, for the Outdoor Track and Field Championships of the ACC 2024. Events will begin on Thursday, May 9 and continue until Saturday, May 11. All three days of action will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.

Seven ACC athletics programs are seeded to begin the conference championships. The Virginia Tech men lead all ACC programs as the No. 9 team in the nation. The Hokies are followed by No. 16 North Carolina, No. 19 Virginia and No. 23 Miami. Notre Dame leads the three ranked ACC women’s teams at 14th, while No. 17 Florida State and No. 22 Virginia Tech round out the group.


Clemson won its 12th ACC Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship, and first since 2004, under head coach Mark Elliott in 2023. The Tigers’ final score of 92 placed one point ahead of Florida State ( 91) and 2½ ahead of Louisville and Virginia. (89.5). Virginia Tech ranked fifth with 84.5.


On the women’s side, Duke continued its recent streak of success by winning the 2023 ACC Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championship. The Blue Devils’ 61-point margin of victory was the largest since the ACC began is extended to 15 institutions. Duke’s final score of 145.5 led the field in overtaking Virginia Tech (84.5), Miami (83), Florida State (78) and fifth place Virginia (76.5).
