Topeka residents receive strange report about man wanted for murder in two other states

TOPEKA (KSNT) – Topeka residents are receiving strange emergency reports about an Alabama man wanted for murder in Oklahoma and Arkansas.

So far, only T-Mobile customers in the region have reported receiving this message, which appears similar to an AMBER alert.

The message reads: “Armed man wanted for murder last seen in Morrilton,” a city in Arkansas. It also includes this link to the Arkansas Department of Public Safety.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) says it is not involved in the investigation and did not issue the alert.

KSNT 27 News spoke with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), which is leading the investigation. According to OSBI, the man in question is Stacy Lee Drake, who was most recently wanted for a double murder and car theft that occurred in Oklahoma on the evening of June 18.

They say the car was found later that night in Arkansas, but Drake is still missing. OSBI also says both Oklahoma and Arkansas authorities sent out these alerts, but could not confirm whether or not the alert was intended for northeast Kansas.

The OSBI spokesperson says they would appreciate any help in locating Drake. He is a white male with brown hair and brown eyes. He is approximately 6 feet tall and weighs 185 pounds.

Drake is believed to be armed. If you see him, call the police and do not approach.
