Large fire destroys vacant building northwest of Atlanta

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – A vacant building in northwest Atlanta caught fire Monday afternoon, according to the Atlanta Fire Department.

The fire was reported at 350 Troy St. NW, near Joseph E. Boone Boulevard NW. First Alert Chopper is currently on top of the large fire.

The Atlanta Fire Department said crews were in the middle of a “defensive fire attack,” which officials said was intended when fire conditions prevent firefighters from getting inside a building.

Smoke from the fire was visible from West Midtown.
