Nampa Police warn citizens to be cautious about donation scams

NAMPA, ID – Nampa Police are warning the public about donation scams after a local business contacted police about a suspicious request.

According to police, a local business was recently asked to reproduce a flyer asking for donations to benefit the Boys and Girls Club.

The company was skeptical, so they asked some questions. When the two men’s answers didn’t match the flyer, the company notified Nampa Police of the situation.

Nampa Police contacted the national business listed on the flyer and confirmed they are not part of this fundraiser. The Canyon County Boys and Girls Club was also contacted and confirmed they are not the beneficiary.

Nampa Police suspect that whoever is collecting these donations will not donate the funds to a charity and urges the public to be cautious when making donation decisions.

If you have any information about these scams, call Nampa Police at 208-465-2257.
