A New Iberia woman has died in a car crash in Florida, according to WMBB in Panama City, Florida. On Thursday, Panama City Beach police were called to a medical emergency around Hidden Lagoon Golf and Racetrack.

When officers arrived, they found a woman named Sherry Richie, 49, of New Iberia, Louisiana, lying westbound on Front Beach Road suffering from severe head trauma. Reports indicate Richie had apparently fallen from a moving vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to officials, the driver of the Jeep was not impaired and there is currently no evidence that the manner in which he operated the vehicle played a role in the case.

This is an ongoing investigation being conducted by the department’s Traffic Homicide Investigation Team.
