8-year-old girl raped in UP’s Basti

Basti (Uttar Pradesh) (India), September 13 (ANI): An eight-year-old girl was raped in Basti district of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday.

According to information provided by Ashish Srivastava, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Basti, the police received a call from a resident of Dubulia police station area at 6 pm on Sunday.

“The person complained that her eight-year-old daughter was allegedly raped by her neighbour. We immediately rushed to the scene and had the girl admitted to a women’s hospital for treatment,” he explained.

Srivastava said the girl’s condition was stable.

The SP further said that according to the information available to the police, the accused is 16 years old and is also a distant relative of the victim.

“A case has been registered under Section 376 of the IPC and POSCO Act. We are looking for the accused and will conduct further investigation after his arrest,” he added. (ANI)
