Californians can once again book a flight to the world’s busiest airport, from Hollywood Burbank Airport.

Delta Airlines has restored service between Burbank and Atlanta, which was interrupted in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The first flights on the restored route took off last Friday, and those arriving and departing from Burbank received the literal “red carpet” treatment.

Removing Atlanta from the list of possible destinations reduced the number of cities Delta serves from Burbank from two to one, with the surviving service being the airline’s hub at Salt Lake City International Airport.

With its return, travelers will now have more connecting options or easier direct service to the Peach State.

“We are excited to see the return of Atlanta service with Delta Air Lines,” said Frank Miller, executive director of Hollywood Burbank Airport. “This additional service is a positive step for the future of Hollywood Burbank Airport and nonstop service east of the Rockies.”

Delta will fly daily from Burbank to Atlanta using an Airbus A220-300. The airline is headquartered in Atlanta and operates “more than 830 peak day departures to more than 200 destinations around the world.”
