SAPD: Man killed by hit-and-run driver while crossing the street

The victim, a man in his fifties, was pronounced dead at the scene.

SAN ANTONIO – A man was killed while crossing the street by a hit-and-run driver, police said.

San Antonio Police were called to 1500 East Commerce in South Hackberry around 11:30 p.m. for a report of a pedestrian being struck by a car.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the victim, a man in his 50s. Officers believe the man was struck by the driver of an SUV. That driver did not stop to render aid.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services. The driver will be charged if he is found.
