Boxer Ryan Garcia was arrested on suspicion of vandalism on Saturday, June 8, after causing an estimated $15,000 worth of damage at a Beverly Hills hotel, authorities said.

ESPN reported that Garcia, 25, was arrested at 5:45 p.m. Saturday after a driver dropped him off at the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, 9850 Wilshire Blvd. Hotel staff contacted police.

The hotel decided to file a complaint after police arrived. It is not known what damage the boxer allegedly caused to the hotel, ESPN reported.

After being taken to the Beverly Hills Police Department jail, the 15-time national amateur champion complained of a health problem, according to police, and was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for evaluation and treatment.

A Beverly Hills Police Department watch commander confirmed Garcia’s arrest but had no further immediate comment.

Garcia’s attorney Darin Chavez told ESPN the arrest comes “at an extremely difficult time for Ryan as he grapples with devastating news about his mother’s health.”
