Detectives investigate fatal shooting in South Seattle

Seattle Police detectives are investigating a fatal shooting Sunday morning in South Seattle.

At 3:48 a.m., patrol officers responded to a report that a person had been shot in the 1000 block of Occidental Avenue South.

When police arrived on scene, they found a 27-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the chest. Seattle Fire Department arrived and pronounced the victim dead.

A pistol was seized as evidence. The officers cordoned off the area until detectives from the homicide squad and forensics arrived and examined the crime scene. No arrests were made.

The circumstances surrounding this shooting are currently under investigation. The Homicide Unit has taken over the lead on this case.
