Former NBA player Delonte West arrested for multiple offenses in Virginia

Authorities in the US state of Virginia said former NBA player Delonte West was arrested on Thursday for resisting arrest and violating release conditions.

Both charges are misdemeanors.

West, 40, is scheduled to appear in court Friday morning after being held on $2,000 bail at the Fairfax County Detention Center.

Police said they found West in Groveton, Virginia, at 1 a.m. Thursday morning when they tried to serve him with an arrest warrant, but West fled the scene. After a brief chase, West was found unconscious.

According to ESPN.com, officers administered West the drug Narcan, which is used to treat opioid overdoses. West was then taken to the hospital after the first dose of Narcan did not work. He was later given a second dose, and then West was taken to jail.

West was previously arrested in Fairfax County in October 2022 after witnesses said he attempted to enter a vehicle that did not belong to him. He was charged with trespassing, entering a vehicle, fleeing from police and public intoxication.

West played eight seasons in the NBA with the Boston Celtics, Seattle SuperSonics, Cleveland Cavaliers and Dallas Mavericks.
