San Antonio man sentenced to 41 years in federal prison for sexually exploiting a child

SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio man was sentenced to 41 years in federal prison for producing and distributing child sexual abuse materials.

Demetrio Rodriguez, 34, produced 20 videos of himself and a minor engaging in sexual acts and shared them on social media, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Texas.

Investigators uncovered the abuse on February 15, 2023 as part of Operation Rescue Me, the press release said.

The joint operation was conducted by the FBI and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Ramirez pleaded guilty on February 20 without a plea agreement to one count of sexual exploitation of children and one count of distribution of child pornography, the press release said.

The defendant was ordered to surrender his phone and any online accounts he used to commit the crimes and must remain on probation for life for the crimes, the statement said.

The refund will be decided at a later date.

“Demetrio Ramirez abused children, one of the most vulnerable groups in our society, and this sentence ensures that he cannot harm another child,” said Special Agent in Charge Aaron Tapp of the FBI’s San Antonio Field Office. “We want to thank our partners at NCMEC and the DOJ through their Safe Childhood Project for their continued support in protecting our communities from sexual predators.”
