17-year-old boy arrested for fatal Triangle shooting, police say

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Virginia (DC News Now) — Police in Prince William County said they arrested a teenager for his involvement in a fatal shooting in Triangle late Monday night.

The Prince William County Police Department (PWCPD) arrived at the scene in the 3700 block of Masthead Trail at around 10:30 p.m., where four people had been shot on a grassy area behind a group of houses.

Investigators believe that a 17-year-old boy shot at a group of five people, hitting four of them. One of them, a 15-year-old boy died there.

The investigation revealed that the group of men and the shooter knew each other. According to PWCPD, the shooting was the result of a previous altercation and an ongoing dispute.

The surviving victims include a 16-year-old boy, an 18-year-old man and a 20-year-old man – all from Triangle. The fifth person in the group was not shot.

The 17-year-old boy was arrested on Tuesday and is accused of murder, three counts of aggravated assault and other related charges.
