After a fatality on the tracks, there are major disruptions on the Euston main line

Local services to London Euston were suspended this morning after a death occurred on the tracks near Watford Junction.

When the rescue team arrived on the scene, the tracks were blocked so that the main trains could not run. However, they have now been reopened.

In its latest update, National Rail said it expected “significant” disruption until at least 1pm and that there may be significant delays of up to an hour or train diversions until services are restored.

The incident affected passengers of Avanti West Coast, London Northwestern Railway and Southern.

Meanwhile, delays are expected between Blackfriars and St. Pancras until 10:30am.

Disruptions in Euston will continue until this afternoon

The severe disruptions at Euston will continue until 1pm this afternoon, National Rail said.

Following the fatal accident on the line between Watford Junction and Bushey, emergency services have now completed their work and all lines have been reopened.

Passengers are advised that despite the restoration of services, there may still be significant delays of up to 90 minutes or changes to train services.

Edgware Road tube station closed after fatal stabbing

Edgware Road tube station in Bakerloo is closed as police investigate a murder.

The victim, a man in his late 20s, was stabbed to death during a brawl on Bell Street at the junction with Edgware Road on Tuesday evening. At least one gunshot was also reported during the brawl.

However, the Circle, District and Hammersmith & City lines are not affected by the closure as they serve a separate station about 150 metres away, also called Edgware Road.

Person killed in track accident

Police said one person died on the tracks near Watford Junction station.

British Transport Police said they received a report of an accident on the tracks near Watford Junction station in Hertfordshire at 6.04am on Wednesday.

Paramedics were on site, but the person’s death was confirmed at the scene of the accident.

Routes reopened, but delays still to be expected

Queues at Euston have now reopened after emergency services “completed their work”.

However, passengers are warned that there may still be significant delays of up to 60 minutes or changes to train connections.

Delays between Blackfriars and St. Pancras

Outside Euston, delays are expected between London Blackfriars and St. Pancras International until 9:30am.

The reason for this was the delay of a train crew, which led to the closure of the line heading north.

The following routes are affected: Between Brighton / East Grinstead / Three Bridges and Bedford, between Brighton and Cambridge, between Horsham and Peterborough, between Rainham / Orpington and Luton, between Sutton and St. Albans and between Sevenoaks and Welwyn Garden City.

Acceptance of Avanti tickets by other providers

Avanti has stated that its ticket acceptance is set up to allow passengers to transfer to services provided by other competitors that are still in operation. These are:

– Between London Marylebone and Birmingham Moor Street with Chiltern. – Between London St. Pancras and Derby with East Midlands Railway. – Between London Kings Cross and Edinburgh with LNER. – Between Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh with ScotRail. – Via any reasonable route with West Midlands Railway, CrossCountry and TransPennine Express.

Trains cannot leave Euston until 10am

The significant disruption at Euston station is expected to last until 10:00 am.

Numerous journeys to and from Euston Station were cancelled, including Avanti and London Northwestern services.

Important routes from Euston to and from Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool and Glasgow are affected.

Significant delays on DLR and Piccadilly Line

Due to a broken train at Deptford Bridge, the DLR experienced significant delays between Bank and Lewisham.

There are also significant delays on the Piccadilly Line from Acton Town to Uxbridge due to a switch in Northfields.

There are minor delays from Acton Town to Heathrow.

Southern: All connections between Shepherd’s Bush and Watford cancelled

Southern said it would not operate services between Shepherd’s Bush and Watford due to the incident.

This is because all lines are currently blocked.

Disruptions in long-distance traffic on the West Coast

Emergency services are dealing with an incident between Watford Junction and Bushey, causing significant disruption to train services between these stations.

It affects Avanti West Coast services on the main line and London Northwestern Railway services on the main route.

The Southern connections between Watford Junction and Clapham Junction/East Croydon are also affected.

It is expected to last until 9 p.m.
