Lake Elsinore man arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking

LAKE ELSINORE, CALIFORNIA – A 34-year-old Lake Elsinore man remained in custody Saturday on suspicion of drug trafficking in Riverside County.

Officers received information in November 2023 about someone selling narcotics in Lake Elsinore and Wildomar and initiated an investigation that identified Mauricio Hernandez-Estrada as a suspect.

According to Sergeant Jarrod Meissen, officers arrested Hernandez-Estrada three times on suspicion of drug trafficking violations, but it is unknown why he was released each time.

Officers worked with members of the Inland Violent Crime Suppression Task Force to obtain an indictment against Hernandez-Estrada. He was arrested on Thursday. Officers allegedly found evidence of possession of narcotics with intent to distribute.

Officers reportedly seized approximately 120 grams of fentanyl, 200 grams of methamphetamine, 61 grams of heroin, 217 Xanax pills and 42 oxycodone pills.

As a result of the charges, Hernandez-Estrada was sent to a federal prison.
