BCSD investigates body found near Golf Course Road | Magazine News

MARTINSBURG – Investigators with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department are currently investigating a suspicious death reported Monday, according to a news release from BCSD.

Officers responded to the report near the 100 block of Golf Course Road around 7:30 p.m. Monday evening. According to the press release, the body is believed to be a woman. More information will be released following an autopsy at the Medical Examiner’s Office in Charleston.

Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area on Monday should contact the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department Crime Stoppers at 304-267-7000.

Martinsburg man convicted of distributing fentanyl

MARTINSBURG – Derrick Dwayne Myers, 46, of Martinsburg, was sentenced Monday to 12 1/2 years in federal prison followed by three years of supervised release for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl.

According to court documents and statements in court, Myers sold controlled substances at a motel in Martinsburg. Investigators searched several rooms in the motel and Myers’ vehicle. During the searches, they found and seized fentanyl, heroin, methamphetamine, eutylone and cash.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Lara Omps-Botteicher prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. U.S. District Judge Gina M. Groh presided.
