A Denver metropolitan man has died and another is missing following a rafting accident on the Colorado River in Gore Canyon on Saturday, according to a news release from the Grand County Sheriff’s Office.

The Grand County Communications Center received reports of a person not breathing on the Colorado River in Gore Canyon, southwest of Kremmling, around 3:40 p.m. Saturday. When emergency responders arrived on scene, they learned it was a rafting accident and that an adult male was being resuscitated, the news release said.

The man, a 56-year-old from the Denver metropolitan area, was later pronounced dead by emergency medical services, the press release said. The man’s identity has not yet been released publicly.

Another man was reported missing after the raft capsized, authorities said. Rescue workers searched the river and surrounding area for the missing man, a 61-year-old from the Denver metropolitan area, but were unable to locate him, the news release said.
