Investigation into overnight shooting in Harrisburg

HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania (WHTM) – One person was shot and a suspect was arrested in Harrisburg overnight.

On Sunday, June 2, 2024, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Harrisburg Police said they were in the 200 and 300 blocks of North 2nd Street due to bar and restaurant closures.


While in the area, officers said they heard multiple gunshots in the area of ​​North 2nd Street and Locust Street. Officers said they immediately arrived and found a single adult male victim with a gunshot wound.

Harrisburg police said the victim was loaded into a police vehicle and taken to a local hospital for emergency care. Police said the victim was last seen in critical condition.

Other officers in the area have located a potential suspect.

According to police, the person attempted to flee from officers but was apprehended after a brief foot chase. While fleeing from officers, the person attempted to throw away a firearm, but it was confiscated by officers.

The investigation into this shooting is currently ongoing.
