Lake County News, California – Kelseyville man arrested for robbery at Soda Bay Market

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – Authorities have arrested a Kelseyville man suspected of being responsible for the armed robbery at Soda Bay Market last week.

Bryan Albert Bouchard, 57, was taken into custody on May 29, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

On Friday, May 24, at 4 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office responded to a silent panic alarm set off by the store clerk at Soda Bay Market.

The employee told officers that a robbery had just taken place and that over $2,000 worth of cash and merchandise had been stolen.

Officers reviewed surveillance camera footage, which showed the person wearing a white motorcycle helmet and using some type of pistol during the robbery.

Before the officers could arrive, the perpetrator fled on a motorcycle in the direction of Buckingham.

Using the automatic license plate reading cameras on site, an officer checked all motorcycles that had been traveling in the area of ​​the robbery in the days before.

The officer found a matching motorcycle with a rider who appeared to be wearing the same helmet and had a similar stature to the robbery suspect.

A record check using the motorcycle’s license plate revealed a registered owner and Bouchard’s address. The officer drove past the registered owner’s home and found the motorcycle.

On Wednesday, May 29, officers and detectives executed a search warrant on the residence in the 5000 block of Vista Drive in Kelseyville. They seized $461 in cash, tobacco, rolling papers and other evidence related to the robbery.

Bouchard was arrested and taken to Hill Road Correctional Facility where he was arrested on several charges related to second-degree robbery.

These charges included possession of a firearm by a masked criminal in public, grand larceny, second-degree burglary and robbery, and the misdemeanor of carrying a concealed firearm in public.

His bail was set at $25,000 and, according to jail records, he later paid the amount demanded and was released.

Bouchard was arraigned on Friday and is scheduled to appear in court again on Tuesday to enter his plea, according to Lake County Superior Court records.
