Man who raped and robbed women arrested after encounter

Agra ::: A man who raped and robbed women after offering them a ride on his motorcycle was arrested in a joint operation by Mahavan and Shergarh police in Mathura along with the SOG (Special Operation Group) team.

He was caught on Friday after an encounter on the Yamuna Expressway near Jagdishpur underpass. The accused, identified as Manoj aka Uttam (29) of Shergarh in Mathura, was armed with an illegal pistol and three live cartridges and three blank cartridges and was riding a stolen motorcycle.

He carried a reward of 25,000 and several cases of rape and robbery were registered against him at Shergarh, Mahavan and Vrindavan police stations in Mathura district.

“In a recent crime, the man allegedly robbed and raped an old woman in Mahawan area of ​​Mathura on May 25. The accused was hit on both legs and is at a nearby hospital for treatment,” said Trigun Bisen, Superintendent of Police (Rural), Mathura.

According to police sources, the arrested accused picked up women on his motorcycle and then took them to a deserted place where he robbed them of jewelry and money, raped them and made threats.

Information about the defendant’s previous convictions is being obtained from other police departments, police sources said.
