Ukraine: Two Russian patrol boats destroyed in attack on Crimea

The Ukrainian military intelligence service GUR announced on Thursday that its forces had destroyed two Russian patrol boats off the coast of the annexed Crimean peninsula using water drones.

The GUR said its special forces group 13 had “successfully attacked the boats of the aggressor state Russia in the temporarily occupied Crimea,” adding that Russian warplanes and helicopters had tried to destroy its drones in Vuzka Bay, northwest of Crimea.

“As a result of the attack, two Russian ships were destroyed,” the GUR said, adding that the vessels were probably KS-701 Tunets patrol boats.

The GUR released a video in which the water drones can apparently be seen approaching the two moored ships.

Moscow said on Thursday that it had destroyed two Ukrainian naval drones that were “on their way to Crimea.” It also claimed to have intercepted 13 drones in the southern Krasnodar region and over the Black Sea near Crimea.

The Russian Defense Ministry later said the Black Sea Fleet had destroyed four Ukrainian naval drones, without providing further details.
