3 houses searched, 12 people arrested in suspected drug ring in Henry County

During a major raid on three homes in McDonough, Henry County police found drugs, weapons and cars.

Police said they searched three homes simultaneously and arrested 12 people who are believed to be part of a crime ring.

Tyisha Fernandez from Channel 2 was live on Wednesday from Henry County, where the investigation took place.

Sergeant Sykes said five different law enforcement agencies helped get everything off the streets on May 17.

“Maybe this will curb drug trafficking in Henry County somewhat, but it also shows criminals that we are watching them and are very vigilant,” he said.

They seized $210,000 in cash, cocaine, ecstasy pills, marijuana and weapons, including an assault rifle.

“We will work together to keep our citizens safe in Henry County,” Sykes said. “Drugs are everywhere, no matter what county you live in, no matter what city or neighborhood you live in.”

Channel 2 Action News Police asked whether the 12 suspects belong to a gang, but are not currently providing any information on this as the alleged crime ring is still under investigation.

The police may make more arrests.
