1 dead after accident on I-64 involving emergency vehicle – The Virginian-Pilot

Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a state trooper vehicle on Interstate 64 in Newport News on Wednesday.

According to a State Police spokesman, the patrol car was traveling east when a Toyota Camry driver struck the truck. State Police say at least one person in the Camry has since died.

Safety Service patrol units work with the Virginia Department of Transportation to ensure safety on the state’s highways. State police said the crashed truck was on its way to assist a disabled vehicle.
