Popular Indiana sports commentator Scott Alan killed in car crash in McLean County

MCLEAN COUNTY (25News Now) – Scott Alan, a well-known broadcaster in the Indiana sports community, was killed in a car accident on Monday.

The McLean County coroner identified the man as Scott Mcilrath, 59, of Kokomo, Indiana, although he was known to most by the last name Alan. An autopsy found Alan suffered multiple blunt force injuries as the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle. The coroner said a toxicology test is pending and the accident investigation is ongoing.

The McLean County Sheriff said officers were called to 1600 North 400 East Road just after 5 p.m. for a two-vehicle crash with injuries. When they arrived, officers saw the aftermath of the crash and determined that the two vehicles involved were a 2019 Ford Escape and a 2020 Chevy Equinox.

The Gibson ambulance took the teen driver of the Equinox to OSF St. Joseph’s Hospital, where he was released to his parents in stable condition. Alan, the driver of the Escape, was found with fatal injuries.

This incident remains under investigation by the McLean County Coroner’s Office and Sheriff’s Office.

Alan also served as Vice President of Operations at Bloomington Bison.

Jim Hallett, owner of Indy Fuel and the Bloomington Bison, expressed his condolences in a heartfelt eulogy:
