2 arrested, 1 at large after armored truck robbery on northeast side

SAN ANTONIO — Two people were arrested and one is on the run after they robbed an armored truck at gunpoint on the Northeast Side Tuesday, according to San Antonio police.

The robbery occurred about 1 p.m. in the 5100 block of Walzem Road while a Brink’s armored truck was parked at an ATM, police said.

After the robbery, SAPD’s Raven Helicopter encountered the trio’s vehicle on Interstate 35 and followed it to a neighborhood in the 3800 block of Morning Drive in Schertz.

Police arrested a woman and a man who tried to escape on foot, but another man is still at large. The police also recovered the stolen money.

Two schools near the area were temporarily placed on lockdown while authorities searched for the suspects.

A SWAT team was also on scene to help with crowd control in the neighborhood, police said.
