Woman killed in head-on collision with dump truck in Glastonbury

A woman was killed in a head-on collision with a dump truck in Glastonbury on Friday morning, police said.

According to Lt. Kevin Szydlo of the Glastonbury Police Department, members of the Glastonbury Police Department, Glastonbury Volunteer Fire Department, Glastonbury EMS and Manchester Emergency Services responded to a reported head-on collision involving a car on Keeney Street between Old Reservoir Road and Woodfield Crossing at approximately 10:36 a.m. Friday.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a sedan traveling north on Keeney Street crossed the center line and collided head-on with a dump truck/trailer. The driver of the sedan, a woman whose identity police did not release, was pronounced dead at the scene, Szydlo said.

According to Szydlo, the dump truck was not damaged.

Personnel from Metro Traffic Services’ regional reconstruction team, as well as the Connecticut State Police Traffic Unit and the Glastonbury Police Department Traffic Unit, were on site to process the accident scene.

The woman’s identity will not be disclosed until next of kin are notified, Szydlo said.
