Horrific attacks in Kharkiv, UN calls for help for Myanmar, increased climate protection measures

Denise Brown said civilian lives must be protected from all sides during the conflict, but in Kharkiv in recent days they have instead been attacked in their homes, with shops and transport links damaged and attacked.

Support for displaced people

UN and humanitarian partners are assisting evacuees from remote villages in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city near the Russian border.

The UN children’s agency UNICEF’s top official in Ukraine, Munir Mammadzade, told UN News on Wednesday that “every single relocation or displacement is a lifelong trauma for these children.”

“They have already been traumatized since the escalation of the war. The frontline areas are regularly attacked and shelled. They are already suffering from psychological problems.”
