WCSO: Man arrested after attempting to evade traffic stop | WJHL

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) – A man was arrested after he allegedly attempted to evade a traffic stop in Washington County, Tennessee on Sunday evening.

The Washington County, Tennessee Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) reports that officers were conducting speed checks in the 1700 block of Highway 107 when they encountered a vehicle traveling at 96 miles per hour in a 55 zone.

As officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver, later identified by police as Jesse Eastep, 34, began driving erratically, the sheriff’s office said.

Eastep then drove off the road in the 1100 block of Highway 107. Officers reportedly saw Eastep move from the driver’s seat to the passenger seat.

Deputies later learned that Eastep was driving with a suspended license, WCSO reported. The occupants of the vehicle confirmed to police that Eastep was behind the wheel and allegedly forced the passenger to change seats.

Eastep was taken to the Washington County Detention Center and charged with:

  • Three counts of intentional endangerment
  • Driving with a revoked license
  • Evading arrest
  • Speeding

As of Monday, Eastep is being held on a $14,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
