Cleric arrested in Ghaziabad for sexually harassing his students – Republican World

Ghaziabad: A cleric in Ghaziabad has been arrested by police for allegedly raping his student. Ghaziabad police arrested the accused on Saturday after videos of the incident were shared on social media.

Vivek Chandra Yadav, deputy commissioner of police (rural), said, “The rape incident took place two years ago when the woman had attended some classes of the cleric named Zabbar.”

“He had recorded some videos of the incident and forced the victim to develop a relationship with him, otherwise he would leak the video.” The accused is a cleric at a mosque in the Mansuri police station area of ​​the district.

However, the video circulated on social media a few days ago following which the woman’s family members informed the police about it.

“Based on the complaint, we lodged an FIR under Section 376 (rape) and criminal intimidation (506) of the IPC against Zabbar and he was arrested,” the official said.

Police are also trying to find out whether the video was posted online by the accused or someone else.

Further legal action will be taken in this matter.
