At least 4 dead, 1 injured in fiery head-on crash near Fallbrook – NBC 7 San Diego

At least four people died late Friday after two vehicles collided head-on on State Route 76, about a mile east of Interstate 15 near Fallbrook.

According to Capt. Brent Pascua, a spokesman for Cal Fire San Diego, both vehicles involved in the crash caught fire.

Another person involved in the crash was taken to Palomar Hospital in Escondido with serious injuries, Pascua said.

People from both vehicles died in the accident, Pascua added.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers closed State Route 76 in both directions between Horse Ranch Creek Road and Rice Canyon Road following the crash. A SigAlert has been issued for the area.
