1 dead when Ford Mustang overturns and bursts into flames on Florida’s Turnpike in Orange County

ORLANDO, Fla. — A 32-year-old Orlando man was killed and two others were seriously injured in a fiery rollover on the Turnpike Freeway in Orange County late Monday, transportation officials said.

The fatal crash occurred in the southbound lanes of the Turnpike at the entrance to State Road 429 around 11:45 p.m.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a 34-year-old Orlando man was driving a 2024 Ford Mustang south on the Turnpike exit when he lost control of the car, which left the roadway and struck a signpost.

The Mustang drove into the median, struck several trees and rolled several times before catching fire, the FHP said.

According to an FHP accident report, both Orlando men, neither of whom were wearing seatbelts, were ejected from the car.

The 32-year-old passenger was taken to AdventHealth Winter Garden and pronounced dead, cops said.

The driver and a backseat passenger, a 24-year-old woman from Orlando, were hospitalized with serious injuries, the crash report said.

Traffic camera videos showed smoke rising from the crash site.
