Fatal accident involving pedestrian on Edward Breathitt Parkway

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) is currently investigating a fatal crash involving a car and a pedestrian on the northbound Edward Breathitt Parkway, also known as Pennyrile Parkway, at the 29 mile marker just north of the Christian County-Hopkins County line.

Officials say the call came in at 3:41 p.m. The caller stated that a male offender had been struck by a passing vehicle. Emergency crews are now on scene and HCSO is asking anyone coming north from Christian County to take the Crofton, Kentucky exit and avoid the area.


According to HCSO, more information will be released after next of kin are contacted. According to KYTC, the expected duration of the closure is currently unknown.

According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC), both northbound lanes of Pennyrile Parkway are closed at the 29 mile marker, just south of the Mannington exit, due to an accident.

According to officials, the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office is asking motorists traveling north on the parkway to exit Pennyrile at Crofton and avoid the accident scene by following U.S. 41 to Nortonville.
